OP points

I've been trying to figure out how to manipulate these, because...

When Mannerheim who has 123 Op points has held on to Leningrad for eons.

When Hoth has 27...some attacks don't take place, or go in a direction other than plotted----this one still baffles me

Why Naday who doesn't have a company under his command has 93 and Guderian has 42

I have noticed a correlation between being on a rail line versus being off one....

Or, the correlation of a 5 leader versus a 9 leader....

Anybody got any good ideas?

If all HQs are left alone doing nothing, the higher rated leaders will climb more quickly. However, as a leader is in combat and doing other tasks that all use OPS points, that leader will drop while Naday will stay up as he is not using any of the few extra points he gets some turns. Your numbers actually make sense as Mannerheim is higher rated than Naday and his total is higher.

Also, as you say the supply level makes a big difference, as the "normal" level for an HQ to climb to is 10 times its SL, or 60 except with Blitz supply, and the replacement level has an impact (or used to anyway). Not on a rail line will definitely drop the ops points anyway.

Everyone has, and is! :D :) ;)

I am fairly certain units require at least 50 OP points to fight 'normally', anything less than that probably receives penalties...Perhaps exceptionally high OPs yield bonuses? But Leningrad is also exceptionally good defensive terrain, I'm fairly certain it entrenches exceptionally quickly up to 9 due to being tagged a 'fortified city'.

This seems to happen at less than 50 OP point levels...There's also the possibility of you playing late in war...I am fairly certain the Axis have random command difficulties in late 1944 similar to the Soviet problems in 1941.

I'm fairly certain the OP points stack up.... I have had games where I possess relatively low priority headquarters which have suddenly become the centrepiece of attention due to new offensives, and upon reinforcing them I notice they have like over 200 OP points... However, version 3.2 introduced OP attrition/gain by leader rating.
"The number of HQ points is now influenced by the competence of the HQ's leader.
A bad leader may lose points, while a good leader may gain points, depending on a random check based on the leadership rating."
I have noticed a correlation between being on a rail line versus being off one....
This might well be true...I always strive to keep my HQs on railways for the ease of transferring new units, so I haven't made a comparison to HQs not on rails...
Or, the correlation of a 5 leader versus a 9 leader....
Again, the competence OP point gain/loss.
Anybody got any good ideas?
Hell no, we're all in the dark! :D
