An Unholy Alliance: Viking2 & Hades vs Red & willy

Oberst willy swings open the door of his Kubelwagen, tosses his copy of 'Blitzkrieg for Dummies' under the seat, he then grabs his worn copy of Volkischer Beobachter. He gazes at the front page in amazement one more time ... in bold type TREATY SIGNED, and beneath it, a picture of Hitler and Stalin grinning and shaking hands! The caption beneath reads: now we fight the true enemy. "Our Grofaz sure pulled that one out of his arse" willy spins round to see the grizzled Sgt. Steiner has come up behind him "Ja, Steiner, that he has ... anything to report?" "Jawohl Herr Oberst, they are arriving already..." Steiner waves towards the woodline. willy stares and slowly makes out ghostly figures filtering out of the forest wearing earth coloured uniforms... Russians! Willy supresses a twinge of instinctive fear as he hears the familiar and dreaded distant shriek and clanking of Soviet AFV's. "We fought these men for three years in one of the most brutal and titanic struggles known to modern history" willy remarks to Steiner "Now together with them we will attack the decadent Americans and their hastily assembled coalition of weak western allies..." Steiner replies "We have truly made a Unholy Alliance..."

Belisarius,
the battle is happening in '44 so I wish I had the hardware you described in '44 but I have to suffice myself with SU57's, IS-2, T34 and ISU122s.

Yo, Hades! my email addy is
lokken@telus.net, but you may have to send your files to either Vik next if you're team leader or to us... P.S. I notice the file hasn't been d/l yet so let me know if you want me to email it to you or Vik directly ... remember that you cannot stop the evil nazi/commie menace from casting the world into a new dark age ... surrender now, and we may offer you a petty position in the new order

Viking/Hades, I bet those Rangers are getting restless of sitting aroud waiting for action. NWO is around the corner. We may put them both in a musemum for future generations to see what happens to the enemies of NWO.

German Arty gets lucky and kills a M4 not much other damage from the first shots, US and Bugarian Arty finds infantry the reports of dead were flying by so fast I couldn't keep up so accurate reporting will be diffcult but I do know several squads were wipe out completely.
Recon elements don't spot much, the turn has been sent to Hades
One extra for some reason I did not see the Air support I bought in my forces????

Luck?! I think it was that M4's destiny to lead the way for the rest of its comrades to the great beyond. It is VERY good that you don't see you air support, may be we already shut it down or you didn't buy the fuel for the planes.
BTW, those casualties may be the POWs and civilians we used as human shield so their deaths are on your conscience. I hope you can sleep well at night now.

Werner curses to himself as he sits alone in his Kubelwagen "Verdammt thunderstorm ..." water drips down his neck from the leaky canvas rag-top as he tries to tune in the Ami jazz station on the Wireless set. "Watch this road, Herr Oberst says ... well, at least I can listen to the 'forbidden music' by myself!" Suddenly a truck comes bouncing up the road, Werner recognizes it as an Italian Saharina truck from his days in Afrika, but the uniforms of the men leaping out are strange ... "Dappled camoflage, like our SS men" he muses. Werner ducks down under the dash as 20mm and MG fire tracers fly down the road at him "SCHISSE!!" he jams the wagen into reverse but the steering is wrecked! Werner then jumps from his car and starts to run ...
Not much contact yet ... our only casualty is Werner's shorts!

Colonel Redsky: Werner, the Bulgarian artillery was unexpected, it makes sense though. The yankees always think in dollars and cheap large caliber Bulgarian arty is the biggest bang for the buck. It's interesting though how they managed to sneak any of it out of Bulgaria since we already lebirated it from the corrupt capitalists.
The main force was shaken but is regrouping, luckily no expensive toys were hit, must be that 'cheap' arty quality.

Col. Redsky: Werner, this is new tactics the opforce is employing. It's called 'wait'em out'. If you wait a while your opponent will forget what tactics they were going to use and lose either by points or by moving on.

Oberst willy gazes intently at the plastic covered mapsheet unfolded on the hood of his Kubelwagen, oblivious to the roar of the vehicles of his Kampfgruppe churning by on the muddy road behind him ... "now that we have access to the Soviet fuel supplies, the Panzerwaffe is mobile again" he mutters to himself. Hans the radioman calls out: "Herr Oberst ... the Russian commander is on the radio for you". Willy takes hold of the radio mike "willy here..." To willys suprise the reply comes in textbook German: "Col. Redsky here ... don't you remember me from 'Kama' before the war, willy?". With surprise willy remembers studying with Col. Redsky in the secret experimental armoured warfare training facility at the remote town of Kazan in Russia during the 1920's."Ja Polkovnik, I remember you ... I guess Stalin missed you during the purges!" replies willy. "Da, I am too valuble to Mother Russia alive!"
-Not much contact yet. Allies seem to be probing more aggressvely up north ... several Saharina trucks, and Armoured cars are evident and they snipe at long range at another poor Kubelwagen.
