Baffled by Boomerangs

Interesting one here I think.

I was using my Wirraways for Nav Search around the South of Oz and all was OK. When the Boomerang became available I thought I should upgrade and get a bit more range. Classic mistake for the Nav search task - the Wirraway is a Lt bomber and can be assigned the task. A Boomerang is a Fighter-Bomber and cannot do the Nav Search task [8|]. Grumble grumble - I screwed up -- but wait! The search arcs are still showing, and there is a button on the Air unit display to show the arcs:

It seems that the Boomerang has kept the same arcs that were assigned to the Wirraway. I don't think that it should - is this a code issue? I do not know if the planes are actualy flying the mission or not but the aircraft are showing fatigue so I think they are.

That probably is a bug, Gunner. Might be worth posting in the beta patch thread.

The upgrade doesn't clear the patrol levels for any incorrect mission types

Is that something that is hard coded into the program or is it something that should be changed? Perhaps its not worth the effort, it only happens rarely.

It is one of those additional things that should be cleared on upgrades. I have marked it down for the future.
Standing down and setting the patrol levels again would clear it, it I believe.

Thanks Michael

Yes standing down the airgroup or indeed adjusting the patrol levels resets the group to no search arcs.

Adjusting the patrol levels is a bit strange. The A/G in question was set to 70% search, 10% train and 20% rest. If you note in the screenshot above, there is no option to adjust patrol levels 'up' by 10%, only the max button is there. If you hit any of the max buttons, the group goes to 100% of whatever you hit, the minimize buttons don't seem to work. So it is all or nothing.

Stand down is the better option I think. On the other hand, when upgrading to an A/C which can normaly do searches - i.e. from a PBY-4 to PBY-5, the search arcs should remain as they were with the initial aircraft. Its only when switching types - as in this case, to a Ftr Bmbr that the reset is required.

Appreciate the support
