What are ship types AU? How are they used?
If you mean AV the A stands for auxiliary and V for heavier than air(craft). Which means its a Seaplane Tender. Gives you 18 (XXX+18) aviation support when parked at a beach hex or base, can only support float fighters, float planes and patrol planes. Useful for setting up forward deploying patrol planes (don't forget the supplies). Section 18.5 page 112 of the UV Manual has more info.
