Feature of Close Combat Installer?

Hello all,
I did build the installer to use the /D switch for incorperating Mods into the re-releases. What I like about this solution is that campaign files and other individual mod specific files are stored independant from the core game files. In contrast CC ConfigManager as well as GME exchange core files and need to be used to restore core game files. For sure this is easier for products like GameRanger as GameRanger 'sees' only the changed core game and don't know that you play the mod x.
Now I can enhance the installer to deploy more files like the game.exe and additional files but is it a) possible to use different file names for the core game exe files and resource files and b) I fear that GameRanger don't support the usage of the /D switch.
I remember that I have requested long time ago a new online portal for online playing of the re-releases to work with this. And I must admit that I don't like the old fashioned online client. I would like to see how much H2H games are currently run, I would like to be able to search for a user. This could be done via a special client program which a) register the user on start and keeps track of the user when he starts a server or joins a server. Now is cc able to be polled about current cc.exe server status so that the client program can still submit infos to the online server application like what type of game was started, what mod (/D switch directory name) and how long the players are playing?
I fear due to the strange update situation that there's not enough man power to find a better solution so the Config Manager way seems to be better then the usage of the /D switch while this is the main reason while I don't use some mods because I don't like to swap core files.
Opinions?
