Russia violates Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact!

I’m playing a solitaire Grand Campaign as Axis. Human controlled Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Finland. I refuse compromise with USSR and am ready to fight Russo-Finnish war. I fend off the Red hoards. Time passes, tick-tock-tick-tock…Then, in September 1940 the Reds start attacking Romania, now a German ally and Poland. What gives? What triggered this? How can I avoid it and not cave into the Russian demands made against Finland in 1939?

You can not. It is up to Russia whether they want to demand Bessarabia.
If they do.. do not support Romania.
By supporting Romania, you draw yourself into an early war.

Russia made demands to take territory in Finland. They never made demands against Rumania for Bessarabia.

Yes, playing ver 1.01. Read all of the “events” back to start. There are no demands made on Rumania. Only the “USSR in Demand for territory near Leningrad went with option Demand. 16/12/1939” against Finland. What is the trick for playing a solitaire game as Axis where Russia is content with the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact until 1941?

I've never had that happen unless you make Finland Axis? Did you do that.
We will need to check.

As of 16 Oct 40 Finland is still a "Firm Democracy" with only a 10% chance of joining the alliance.
