Origins used to bounce from city to city until 1994. Now it's always held in Columbus Ohio. Which makes attending tougher if you live on the West Coast.

They have moved it to a hard time to attend, I know of a group that is meeting during the historical third week of June instead of going to Origins to play the games we usually play. We are renting a room at a hotel at a major hub city and paying less overall than the usual Origins costs. Several of us play WITP:AE and expect to get some PBEM turns done (really sneaker net, with thumb drives) during this week and showing off the game we really like to play.

Speaking of conventions, anybody going to Historicon this year? Its going to be in VA this year.

AH continued holding AvalonCon in Baltimore. On the heels of the release of Advanced Third Reich in '92 all of the designers and a big chunk of the playtesters (including yours truly) met there in '93 for a huge ATR tourney.

So apparently no from the forum is going......I guess there's no reason for me to go then. [:(]

That is a bad time for me. CR I remember Origins at Hopkins, man I had some fun!!

I'm not so young a grasshopper. I still have the program for the Avalon Hill-SPI softball grudge match held at the 1978 Origins at the University of Michigan. [;)]

OK, we in the outer reaches just dreamed about getting to these event. Ohio too far away, havent you traded in the Chuck wagon for an auto, whats the air fare, USD$100?

What about a "Oldest wargame" competition.

Mine was "African Campaign" by Jedko - A divisional coverage of the campaign with step loss for every unit. This company also put out Russian Campaign which was taken up by AH At a guess I bought it in 1974.

I do fondly remember Dice in the Pacific and it's predecessor...Yahtzee at Sea. [;)]

I normally attend, but not this year, next year will attend Origins.
