Static - but only temporarily...

Is it possible to give a unit a static device that would "upgrade" to a non static device and have that "upgrade" occur approx 7 days after the start of the game?

In essence locking the unit in place for 7 days...then freeing it up.

Yes. I've tested it. I've created a second "garrison" device for Thai Army units, that upgrades to a second support device that becomes available on January 25th, 1942 (When Thailand declared war against the Allies). It sometimes takes a few days, but eventually, all the units upgrade.

Ahhh... what a magnificent idea for all of those static base forces which cannot be moved to a more suitable location. Oh Frabjous Joy!!!!

So you simply:
1. Create a new device that the existing static device upgrades to...
2. Give the new device a starting pool...
3. and set an availability date for the new device?

My thinking is to create situations players will hate but would simulate "historic" decision making...

1. My original Treespider mod locked much of the Kwantung army in Manchuria until many of the units that historically transferred out were historically released...this may be a more elegant device to achieve that end.

2. I'm tired of the Malayan skidoo...My thinking is to tie the Commonwealth units down for a week while Percival and staff sort out their operational imperatives...

3. The Thai's come to mind...

4. Some of the Chinese come to mind...

Hmmm...do I want to wade back into modding?

Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter Here . . .

But if you do, make sure to remind the player to keep 'Replacements On' for the affected units. The first time I ran a test, I couldn't understand why the units weren't upgrading.
