Weather and Season questions

Hello - I'm in my first game - Axis GC. It is now January 1940. Poland and Denmark are conquered.

So the Wehrmacht are "sitzkreiging" on the western front. It now strikes me I do not understand the weather and season effects in this game. I see there is a -10 eff mod to rain and a -30 eff mod to snow. But the manual seems to state that both Attackers and Defenders suffer this penalty? If that is true, why not attack all year round? Are there other weather effects, especially making it unwise to attack in winter?

Yes, there is a winter effect, but the most import thing is the phoney war.

Germany was not prepared to attack until May. There is a penalty for attacking early.

Thanks for the reply. So there is an event? When does it fire? I am stationed on the western border and have not Declared War on the Low Countries and its January 1940.

Ever year winter is scripted to occur. Dates are random.

Generaly the weather is using the code with a % chance to occur at each hex at every turn.
Usually the winter in the west is not so severe as the one in the east.
