Whilst waiting in excited anticipation for this game, I happened to stumble across this quiz to test your identification skills.

See how you get on.

I managed to get the all right (much to my surprise and much to my wifes horror!)

See how you do

Hey, that was pretty good. I missed 5 of them. Didn't recognize the two Marine Corps vehicles in time and goofed on the ASU85, BRDM2 and T-72. Can't believe I missed on the T-72 but the way they drew the rear of the turret made me think it was a French tank of some sort.

Thanks, Rob.

Yeah I can imagine, at your age it´s hard enough to click that button with your shaky hand :D

Kidding aside, in the Bundeswehr I won everytime the ID contest we had once a week. Footage of NATO and WP vehicles, camoflaged and not. After two month it got boring for the rest and I had to close my eyes untill the seargent sayed I was allowed to look , LOL.

Hmmm...wayyyy to easy.....I guess I will have to make a challenging one...but none of this friend or foe garbage....that stuff went out with the downfall of the evil empire. Now a days anyone can have an M113 or a BMP....I even know a Canadian that ended up with his own personal T55..hehe.

I will put together some slides...but since I don't have a site I would need someone to post them as an exercise in target identification...not just friend or foe. Any volunteers:)

Very easy. But spent time as a 19D looking at flash cards in my youth.

For you guys that have trouble there is a definate stylistic difference in equipement between soviet and american equpement.

Not bad

Only got one SP gun wrong as I was speeding through them. Not bad for an ex tech warrant who was stuck in the CP and not the OP...

100% - all easy

These tests are too easy as they rarely encompass anything but US and Russian designs. Throw in some french, Brit and Dutch vehicles and see how challenging it gets - And can anyone tell the difference between a Turk BTR-80 and a Russian one? All those old line drawings were replaced by pictures of painted 1/300 scale models by TASC in the mid 90s (a very poor product but at least showed the normal paint schemes)

While in Europe every toilet stall had an AFV recognition poster on the inside of the door for study while taking care of ones business. As soldiers are creatures of habit the posters were rotated monthly - this worked like a charm and those recognition tests were almost always passed at 100%. Try this at home!

Those were fun - but still fairly easy. Maybe I've spent too much time with flash cards and my Janes pocket guides. If you made one up excluding all european and US gear I'd bet it would be a stumper. I've got a card deck from TASC of UAVs - those are really obscure - I'll make up a test with GTA 17-2-13 Ch.1 cards from 87 that I have at hand
