If you are writing your own AI, then anything goes. If you are using AI scripts from the game scenarios, then Dec. 7, 1941. And even if you are writing your own AI, the game engine is hard coded to have things happen on certain specific "dates" and in certain specific "years", so there is no way to just move things back and forth along a time line. The game is War in The Pacific, within a historical timeline, it isn't a 'roll your own' toolbox. The game code is a very hard/big stake in the ground. The leash is short.

Cheers good to know I'm not a computer programmer by any strech of the imagination so I will go with the start date as is,my scenario will just be out of time by 20 Years. I plan to make a duplicate install of the game, and alter one version so that it has World War 1 ships, aircraft & equipment!

For that you should have no problems... sort of... part of the hard-coded voodoo centers around Dec 7th effects...where the problems may creep in are related to iirc the date specific modifiers that kick in for things such as AAA, ASW, Allied torpedo effectiveness, and the Japanese unload bonus...I'm sure there are others.

Cheers I have been working on WAR PLAN ORANGE for the past couple of years, trying to enhance it,the problem being I'm now running out off available art space within the database within the game as it's limited to a maximum of 500 art files, this is where the ADMIRALS EDITION comes in very handy, with it's larger capacity for art and a far better editor, perfect now all I need is to get to work converting everthing to the Dreadnought era simple,I think it should take about a year to accomplish me thinks.
