Have the game loaded and all patched up. Now to do the first tutorial tonight and see how the game plays.

Here is my setup for the tutorial. I don't expect to do too well but who knows I may just get a bit lucky.

Wonderful. We are defending a medium sized village.

But where are the Soviets?

Good Hunting.

Woods block LOS.

This is the battle plan.

As the Soviets thrust down the road I bring fire on them from the front and the flank.

I'm concerned that the Soviet column is being lead by tanks. I didn't see the Soviet setup when I put mine in place. Which is okay.

Makes the setup a bit more realistic.

Now we'll see just what happens.

We're going to find out about LOS in this game in short order I would imagine.

So far I've read the first 9 pages of the tutorial. I'm just getting to the LOS hot key to be able to check what my guys can see.

Things went well on turn 1.

Nothing happened. [:D]


Ah, but the best laid plans....no plan survives the first shot....

The Soviets took a different route to get to the village than I thought.

The ones that advanced straight down the road were given a proper greeting though.

I managed to kill some Soviet tanks on turn 3.

But I lost an M3 CFV section in the process.

You know, the more things change the more they stay the same...

It really looks like the Soviets are still going to advance into the same kill zone I had marked out at the very beginning of my setup.

I can tell you that those BTR's are not going to like meeting those Abrams on that hillside.

The battle continues....






That lead Soviet tank unit started out with at least 8 tanks in it and it's down to 2 right now. Things are getting ready to get tough for the Soviets when that happens.

Bad news on a hillside.

Soviet tanks are recoiling from the American firepower.




3 Abrams were lost that turn. 2 in the close in fighting with the infantry on the hill.

Now to see what this next turn brings.

The Abrams finished the battle on the hill by wiping out the Soviet BTR unit and then pulled back.

The Americans are lining the river and forming up a shooting gallery. This could get bloody in short order if the Soviets advance into open ground.

Soviet Forces are taking a pounding from both sides and can't get out of the kill zone.

The American commander doesn't allow the Soviets to pull back and keeps pouring fire on them.

That costs another Abrams and it's crew.





But the Soviet force is being shot to pieces.

Until finally there is only a single Soviet unit left in the battle area to surrender.

Surprisingly I only got a tactical victory. But I guess that's not too bad for my first time driving around NATO's back yard and playing with the neighbors.

In conclusion, the game engine is easy to work with. Now it's a matter of playing the game enough to know when to move forward and when to pull back. Where to go to find the things I want to find, when I want to find them.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy game play is. I look forward to playing more of the game.
