This is the battle of the 2nd Tutorial. This time from the Soviet side.

We'll see how that one goes for me.

While the tutorial is set to be played from the NATO side I'll try this one from the Soviet side with full Fog of War options turned on.

Here is my setup.

Here are our positions on turn 2. I've used Route March to bypass the hill mass as quickly as possible.

Once I get the armor into the village I'll start to lead with some infantry. I don't want to walk into an ambush with my tanks leading.

It didn't take NATO long to respond. There were air strikes and artillery strikes against the tail of the column as it moved out.

I had given the tanks the order to move on turn 1 and waited until turn 2 to give the Infantry their orders to move. That 1 turn delay cost me.

The was happy to tell me that I had personally been killed.

So much for the glory of war.

A-10's and M3 CFV's attacked my column as well.

My own artillery has been firing without my giving it orders. I need to look up my artillery in the rules and see why that's happening.

Okay, it's because I have allowed the Staff to select FSCC missions and they are targeting as they feel the need.

We need to get under cover of that village. NOW!


Out of LOS of NATO air and artillery assets.

NATO airstrikes continue to hammer my column. Playing the game with FOW is definitely challenging. As it should be.





The unit is starting to lose cohesion under the pounding of the A10 attacks and the artillery.

Trying to get through the village under NATO artillery and airstrikes.

Finally cleared the village.

Good Hunting.

But NATO's Airforces aren't slowing their attacks.

And even more airstrikes!

HELLO, is there anyone home in the VVS????!!!! We need some help up here.

Actually, we called in an airstrike and they couldn't identify the target....really, I'm looking right at the American tanks sitting out there in the open....too much vodka before flying impairs the vision I think.

Trying to consolidate all my forces in one area. I'm not sure that's a really good idea but I need to concentrate my fire on those M1 tanks of his.

After finally knocking out the American tanks on my side of the river it's time to advance.

Now I need to worry about the tanks in the village on my front right.





Unfortunately, one of my own tank companies was knocked out of the fighting as well. The best we can hope for is to hold the ground and let our excellent recovery troops do their work when the sun goes down.

Hey, your Su-17 got 1 M1A1. They weren't too hammered. [:D]

On the second mission they actually found the second group of M1's down by the river. Easier to spot tanks by the river than out in an open field I guess....especially after a few Vodka morale boosters.

It's obvious I won't be writing any tactics manuals the way this fight is going.
