I was able to assault with a disrupted unit.

I moved an infantry unit into hex. I then call a assault so the red arrows show but don't initiate it, instead I move up a leader into the same hex that will support the assault, but moving the leader in draws op fire and disrupts the infantry unit but the option to assault is still there and I can assault normally with a now disrupted unit. I can send you my save game but my opponent (HSL) will need to send you his game pw though so not sure if he will do this if you play each other much.
