Group movement bug?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not (like many of my posts in tech support). At the beginning of my turn, I grouped 3 units in the same hex. Then I moved 1 for to AP. Then I clicked on an empty hex to unselect the group. I was able to click on another unit, separated from the group by several hexes and issue a move order to him. Once I selected a unit outside the group, shouldn't my turn has ended and the turn pass to the AI? I shouldn't have been allowed to move 2 units without interruption once I selected a unit outside the group, right? I would swear the rule has been enforced in other situations.

I was able to use this method to create a group of 3 units, move 2. Then create a different group of 2 different units and move both of them. This has to be incorrect.

That sounds like a bug. I'll try to reproduce and see what's going on. (We had tested group movement pretty thoroughly, but I had to change some of this code when implementing the Classic AP rule late in development, so it's possible something was broken at that time.)
