Good review, I heard on another forum the AI was as good as Command Ops. Interesting.

I don't think it's even close to that good. I played a lot with fog of war off just to see how the AI plays. I found a number of areas that could (and hopefully will) be improved.

In my experience, the game is not much faster than conventional turn based.
Waiting for you opponent's move also takes a long time if your opponent is the type that thinks through several moves ahead.
Given that his chance to think and move is magnified with the altenate-move mechanics, it makes the game longer at times.

Nice review James. That's why Out of Eight is usually the first place I look when I want a review!

Jomni,
I think you will always have the potential for this to happen because some people just analyze their moves more than others. But it's not surprising you see this now as I think a lot of people are still learning the system. I guarantee you I could finish a game of Partisans with you in 20 minutes or less because I'm familiar with the game and the scenario. I'm sorry that some of the experiences you are having are discouraging!

But it feels faster, since you get to play more often.

Hi,

I'm new to the game and never played the board game. I like the game a lot, and the Out of Eight review is excellent. It's very well written, informative and entertaining. Anyone considering buying the game should read this review. Great job.

Robert

No. There were apparently some other video capturing programs that work, but I stick with FRAPS.
