Questions on 'demolition' FF

I played that ff online yesterday and some doubts appeared.
How can the panzer be countered? Rethorical question: CC+2 caps+ some luck. pretty tough without the molotov weapon card or any unit with antitank capability. Maybe its a better idea to forget that tank and focus on killing the pioneers, I guess. Any further tactical advice for the poor soviet guy?
I took one of the obj. building hexes with the panzer and it changed its red star for a german cross. I didn't get the VPs until one of mi pioneers got there too but, would.the soviet get them if i hadn't entered that pioneer? Maybe the hex should have displayed the soviet control marker until then.
My opponent reported he started 3rd, 4th and 5th turns with negative caps. I think that's not right.
