Error 486

Hello All,
I moved my JTCS from an old computer to a newer cmputer. I get an Error 486 when trying to run a scenario.
I am unable to redownload JTCS as I bought well over 2 years ago and did not purchase disks.
I do have my serial # from my download.
Is there anything that can be done to enable my current configuation of JTCS on my newer computer. Perhaps a file that unlocks the game or the like?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx!
Hawk

I think it is because you didn't run the installer.
2 years ago I think was still Digital River. Try
www.findmyorder.com to see if you can download the installer. Otherwise email support at Matrix and see if they can get you a download link.
When you do get the installer, burn it to a CD.

Hello Junk,
My order is no longer available as it is well over 2 years old.
I am sure Jason will see this eventually and be able to assist.
Thanx!

Registry reproduction fixed the issue.

Hi; I have exactly the same problem, well I had to reinstall Vista and I installed it on a different hard drive; now I have not touched the files or moved them on my old hard drive but I cannot load any scenarios and get the Error 486. How can I reproduce my registry? What does that mean?

You probably need to reinstall the game. I would copy any scenarios you have created or downloaded, and any games you have going that you want to keep, and then reinstall the game where it was. Otherwise install it on the new drive, and copy anything from the old install you want to keep.

The reason you need to reinstall, is some files are put into the computers registry, and the only way I know of to get them there is to reinstall the game. I have done it a few times when I had to rebuild my computer, or my C drive.

I cannot seem to find the installer or the original download file. What is it called? Hopefully I have not deleted it.[:(]

I still have my original Talonsoft CD; I really don't want to have to buy this game for a third time!

The Talonsoft disk will not work with the Matrix version. Downloads should be called John Tiller Campaign series. When I got mine, I purchased a disk, so I only have to reload the latest update.

Is why I despise digital downloads! If I must, then I always burn the download to a disk so I have it later...

I should do that with the update, but having the disk for the game helps.

Do a search on your harddrives for JohnTillerCampaignSeries*.*
You should be able to find your installer, if you didn't delete it.

Very much, I have the disk myself, I try to always obtain hard copy of things, if I am able!

I've had issues with my install. I am not sure what is happening, I tried opening a *.btt directly from File Explorer by assigning EF.exe as the proper application. It results in error code 486.
What is going on, something in the registry?
Do I need to try to install this again, or is there a shortcut?

EDIT: And now it works again. I had tried rebooting earlier. Had the issue in the morning, and now it works in the evening. Wonder what tomorrow brings...
EDIT2: My PC was dying. Complete reinstall of W7, then actually buying a new computer and installing JTCS there instead [8D]

I have the same error code despite reinstalling the game 3 times tonight thus far. I also have put it onto a new WIN 8 system, it worked fine on my old XP. So my question is... what else can be tried? I sort of thought I was getting away from the need for this thing by ordering the CD.
