Quick Battle.

Soviet Infantry are dug in in a wood, facing one Axis Panzer Platoon. This is for demo purposes only.

The Soviet troops are given a Hold Fire order. NOTE: this is very important to avoid the troops firing on exposed tank commanders from range, giving away their positions and coming under long range HE fire. The hold fire command results in an ambush scenario.

During the action that follows, no further commands are issued to the Soviet troops - everything is AI driven.

Nice...Haven't played the Russians yet. Question..when they get close do you have to switch off the hold fire command or do they do this with the command still in place. when i got my tank, i switched it off the hold fire command, was wondering if that was needed.

No, I leave hold fire switched on. Infantry will fire regardless when the enemy gets close - as in real life.

I had German squad use "hunt" command to sneak up on buttoned up t34.
They got close enough to touch it and formed a 360 around the damned thing.
I used assault,attack commands right on the tank, the threw a few potato
mashers which exploded on tank after a few minutes tank drove away.
I even tried the mount command to see if they would hop on and throw
grenade down hatch..but no. My first major disappointment in the game.

German infantry appear to have much more limited AT capabilities. They will obey your orders, but if all they have are potato mashers, you can't expect much of a result.

If you play as the Soviets your infantry will come equipped with Molotovs and AT Grenades aplenty.
