Post on Graviteam says patch is up on gamersgate..but I cannot find???

How to download the patch from gamersgate (http://www.gamersgate.com):
1) Log in
2) Find "My Library" and under that "My Shelf" and under that "Achtung Panzer Operation Star"
3) Make sure that the main game "Achtung Panzer Operation Star" (not an addon) is selected from the list in the middle of the page
4) You can see download links on the right side of the page under "PATCHES"


Download following items:

k43t_apos_patch_may12_eng_v3
(this is the actual patch that changes content of the game like mods)

op_star_game_update_v580_eng_v2
(this updates the game engine to be compatible with the new patch - install first)

k43t_apos_upd_dist_taran_rakit_may12_eng
(this updates taranovka and rakitnoe maps: some changes and new look - optional, but recommended)

Do we uninstall previous updates first?

No Idea on uninstall... I try without if broke will redo.

I uninstalled previous update and DLCs, even though I have been told it's not necessary. Just to be safe. Uninstall went very quickly.

Yep the readme states it contains the previous updates.

I can't believe I can't get this patch installed.
I downloaded all three files from gamersgate to my desktop.
It say install the 580 update first which I did. Double clicked on it and it seemed to install itself.
Upper right of game main screen reads Version 5.77 (1420) Update: feb 12
Unpacked the may patch into a temp file I created.
Started the game.
Opened update.
Clicked install and navigated to the CORE\desc.addpack.
Clicked open.....

NOTHING. What in hell did I do wrong?

The readme give five steps. #3 says in the window that appears click "install". What freakin window? Is it talking about the update window in game?

Yup, it means game updater window. When you press "install" you can then search for the folder where your patch/mod is and find file "desc.addpack". The "desc.addpack" includes information where to automatically install all the files in the patch/mod folder - so you don't have to manually move every single file by yourself.

When I open the update window in game and click install I go to the file i unpacked the patch too, I find the deac.addpack and when clicked on the "open " button highlights. I click that and nothing happens. In past patches at that point all files would install in the game and after "save and play" all was well. I don't think I know what you are talking about.

Am I correct? Does the update v580 automaticly install?

1. Download and run the 580 update first. This allows the patch to be utilised by the game engine.

2. Run the game and confirm that it says version 580 in the top right corner of the main menu window.

3. Download the May12 patch. Extract the patch to a folder of your choice. I created a special folder for this patch to make sure that it doesn't overwrite any earlier downloads and that I can find it easily.

4. To run the game updater you can simply click on the game version at top right of the main menu - the line of text up there.

5. Once the game installer runs, I uninstalled the earlier update, DLCs, etc. This is not necessary - just being careful.

6. Next, click Install at bottom left of the game installer window.

7. Browse to the folder containing the downloaded patch.

8. Open the CORE folder and locate the desc.addpack file. Select it.

9. Wait until the install completes.

10. Repeat the process to download and install the operations updates (optional). This file is over 1GB. I installed this.

11. Click Save & Play or whatever it says - my game is running at the moment.

Probably the toughest patching process I have ever seen but I haven't had any crashes yet - fingers crossed...

I do step #1 and install to the default main game folder. (Program files\Graviteam\Actung PanzerOperation Star) I even get a message that says Update 580 successfully installed although I don't see the usual windows green line filling to the right as it installs files.
When I run the game it still says Version 5.77. That is probably where I am having problems. The update 580 is not installing correctly or at all....but why?

have you 100% checked your game install path?

maybe you installed it somewhere slightly different?

Not sure I know what you mean here...I know where the game is installed in my Program files...keep in mind I have successfully installed all DLCs and patches/updates from gamersgate and even a sound mod...with do problems.

OK. Well, it installed fine over here - exactly like the previous patches and DLCs.

Why doesnt Matrix make a downloader if people are having so much trouble.There is a lot more activity here since you started your helpful tip threads.Come on Matrix!!!
