Airborne reconstitution

Quick question...
Everyone knows that airborne units do not reconstitute with the same airborne capabilities as when they were destroyed on the field.
but... do we know WHY this was made the case?
I do understand that there are workarounds, but I've been curious about this for a long time.

Hi Mike!
Ltns, old war-horse. Elaborate what you mean about the capabilities? Proficiency, equipment or their special airborne, air-landing etc. capabilities? Which scenario are you referring to. In your FStB scenario the German Fallschirmjäger units pop up again, same for the BR and US airborne; unless they are flagged as 'do no reconstitute'...

Ultimately, only Norm could answer that. But, since they would usually be rebuilt with the same replacements that non-airborne units are rebuilt with, the assumption is that the rebuilt units would then be no more airborne-capable than any other infantry unit.

That's what I meant. Then for larger scenarios (spanning years), it would be advisable to create "refits" for the airborne units. That way, if they're destroyed, you can replace the reconstituted (and non-airborne capable) airborne unit with a fresh one that can make airborne operations. I'm not sure of the best method for doing so (disbands, like the way Mark "refits" the Panzer Divisions in Third Reich) but just thinking out loud here.

Mike, you can make several mirror units. When one is destroyed, the next one can enter using the 'unit destroyed' event in the editor.
