Query for someone on the DBB team: what do all the different engineer squads do?

Construction Engineers seem to be combat engineers - or at least they generate AV - I assume they also do the standard engineer squad build/repair bit?
Base Engineers, Special Engineers, Port Service... some do the load/unload portion of Naval Support via the Shore Party function... but what else do they do/not do?

I love the variety of engineer units, and I want to make sure I'm using them properly!
