Japan bumps their pilot training rate way up in 1943. Is there some limit on the number of Japanese pilots that can be represented in the game? Say Japan had adopted a long war vs short war strategy and had bumped up their pilot training rates in late '41 instead of waiting until 1943. Can the game handle this type of increase?

The only limit is for overall number of named pilots (taken from generic pool). Sum for both sides. But with enough loses it can be avoided.

There is also possibility of Japanese industry crash, if monthly pilot numbers are too high, but I do not think you are going to implement such great numbers.


Just open Scenario in editor, and check SCENARIO tab, and then PILOTS in lower-left corner (there is cursor there in the picture). It is pretty easy to modify monthly pilot numbers for every year (RATE column, and drop-box in upper-right corner).

Yes, I knew how to do the change in the editor. What I was wondering about was the total limits on pilots that could be in service at one time. I was going to use the numbers already in the scenario for 1943, but use them for 1942 also. I reasoned that if the Japanese could train that number in 1943, it is not unreasonable to assume they could have done it earlier. If they're placed in training earlier you avoid the huge drop in pilot experience in late 1943 early 44. I really don't know how it will effect the economy, that's something I hadn't considered.

IIRC maximum named pilot number is 50000 for both sides, however michaelm have made additional exe, with greater maximum number (I think 80000). Check BETA thread in Tech forum section.

If you just move numbers in Scenario 1, there should be no issues. There is problem in Scenario 2, because Japan produces huge number of pilots in later years.


The increase in training number was mostly achieved by cutting training time. IIRC in 1944 it was cut by 8-12 months, comparing to pre-war standards.
