SPWAW Display Problems

Hi,

I'm running SPWAW 7.1 under Windows 2000. It's been fine for a month - since I loaded it on - then I deleted other stuff inc for example Half Life and then I started getting problems. The screen will black out on 80% of op-fires on solitaire play and when I go to the arty screen. Sometimes the immediate area around a vehicle will show with everything else blacked out. If I press a key or click the mouse the display usually goes okay again. My machine is a 650Mhz with 128Mb ram and an 8 Mb graphics card.

I've just bought Uncommon Valour and that seems to work fine - but I haven't played it extensively yet.

Any ideas, I noticed reaper2100 posted a message like this a long time ago but I didn't see any solutions posted.

Thanks alot

Hello

Just a guess but perhaps SPWAW and some other game used a same .dll file, and deleting that other game might have deleted this file also?

I'd put my save games into safe place and try to reinstall SPWAW..maybe that would help.

Might also be a display driver problem.

Delete these files if you have them steel.prf and holdert.txt located in this directory C:\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\save then restart the game. Try running DXdiag to make sure you didn't cause any problems with you video card and sound card DirectX files.

Hi again,

It's solved now thankyou. I had to update DircetX, reinstall SPWaW and delete holder.txt and steel.prf. I had tried each seperately and it didn't work. Thanks a lot for that I have really been enjoying playing SPWaW and was very disapointed that it was becoming so difficult. I have just bought UV and am so engrossed in SPWaW I haven't started playing it yet!
