Soviet Mechanized Corps, or How do I make a unit?

I've managed to slog through 41 and 42 as the SU, but I haven't been able to find an answer to:
1. Can I "make" units? (not just attached support units) if so, how?
2. Soviet Mechanized units (ie - brigades) haven't shown up yet... do they automatically appear, or am I supposed to build them, ala #1 above...

1. Yes u can, actually its pretty much a must. Click on a urban hex and press shift B. Note making units costs AP.
2. 3 mot bde or 3 mech bde's created per above will be able to combine into a mech corps.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

A side note is that the mech corps can be put together starting Sept. 1942; motor brigades are available before that but they can only run loose individually for awhile.

You'll get better traction out of your mech corps if you make a bunch of mech/mot brigades early and leave them around rear area cities on refit, collecting morale and bumping the experience slightly for a couple of months. Then when they are ready build them into corps. You will have a hard limit on number of mech corps you can build -- they soak up a lot of trucks. If you build too many you will run very low on trucks and your army will grind to a halt.

If you have APs still spare after building corps and divs, then build artillery divisions, provided you also have a lot of spare armaments. They pack some punch in cracking fort lines.
