Market-Garden campaign

2nd version available for download here:
Market Garden
Fixed some map/scenario details + a couple of briefings.

This campaign is based on Command Ops Series ‘Highway To The Reich’ scenarios adapted for Panzer Corps. I will add links to the first scenarios hopefully soon.
You need PzC v1.1 to play, and in addition these mods are required:
Massi’s terrain mod: Massi
Real Sound Mod redux 1.10: Redux
I have also used a few unit icons from Puma, churchlakecity, El_Condoro, bebro and guille1434 .
These come with the campaign. Thanks to (all) PzC modders!
Highly recommended (a must for smooth modding): The Generic Mod Enabler. GME

Scale is 1km hex maps and battalion/company units. The campaign starts a week before the historical operation with the Allied surprise attack against an important bridge across the Waal canal.
Your core units start with the Irish Grenadier group (4 units) and gradually add the rest of the Guards Armored Division of the XXX Corps (max 14 units).
The main scenarios are of course covering the three Allied airborne division’s landings. Your task is to use the XXX Corps assets along with your core to advance up Hell’s Highway from the Waal Canal to Arnhem. There are a few smaller scenarios where you must take a small battle-group and provide help to a specific sector . Mostly this means preventing German counter’attacks trying to sever the Allied transport/supply line along Hell’s Highway. The campaign will end with a big fictional scenario depicting a major armored clash between 2 divisions north of Arnhem. I have added the M-G campaign three to the library.

Designer notes: I am not a fan of having too much prestige being used to buy lost of expensive equipment, in this campaign players will mostly need their prestige points to repair units. Also, I dislike creating over-strength super-units. All regular battalion units therefore have a max strength of 10 and companies max strength are set to 3 (or 6 if the unit is composed of two companies).
Your core units are often brought into play as reinforcements on a later turn. There is no elegant way to do this in the Editor unlike regular Aux units. Core units therefore have to arrive at some pre-determined distance from their map entry and move 1 hex pr turn. Yes, I know this can be a bit tedious.
All units have historically correct unit names. There are a couple of ‘new’ units in this mod, mainly 8cm/12cm mortars for the Germans and 81mm/3”/4.2” mortars for the Allied airborne formations. Several German sectors were dependent on mortars for support as regular artillery were not present. German flak units were often used in a ground role, especially at Arnhem against the British airborne units. So I have created switched AA/AT modes for several of the German flak units.

Edit: Final version of campaign three.

Surprise Attack

From Field Marshall Sir Bernard Montgomery.
Commander, the Grenadier Guards are being held up on the main highway to the south by stiff German resistance.
Reports just in indicate an undefended approach route to the De Groot Bridge east of the highway via Overpelt.
The Bridge itself, like all the other crossings along the Escaurt Canal, is well defended by 88mm Flak and Fallschirmjäger troops.
Intel is that all other crossings have been blown but that the Germans are keeping this one open to allow their forces south of the Canal to escape.
Use this approach route to seize the De Groot bridge and hold it at all costs until relieved.
Remember that once secured, cover all approaches. The enemy is likely to react quickly from both north and south of the bridge.
It will probably take us another 24 hours to clear the highway. So until then you're on your own.
You must hold all 3 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold the primary objective (the De Groot Bridge) and 1 secondary objective to gain a Minor Victory.

From Field Marshall Sir Bernard Montgomery
Commander, speed is of the essence. Use your vast superiority in tanks, guns and air support to force your way through. Once you start, stop for nothing. Don't let the Guards get sidetracked chasing down enemy units, you have 231 Brigade to look after your flanks.
We have spent the last month swanning through France and Belgium, now it's time to swan through Holland. The first prize is Eindhoven and a link up with the 101st Airborne. Their 506th Para Regt may have secured the northern suburbs by the time you arrive. Also, Luftwaffe has prepared a forward air-field which must be captured.
This is our Highway to the Reich, don't forget to secure it as you go but above all, remember speed is everything.
You must hold all 7 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold all 3 secondary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

From Field Marshall Sir Bernard Montgomery.
Commander, the Guards Armoured Division has pushed past Eindhoven, splitting KG Walther in two, with the Kampfgruppe Heinke falling back to the east of Hell's Highway and remnants of the 6th FJ Regt now screening the western side in fairly good order. The Luftwaffe have intervened in force with the biggest German bombing raid since D Day, plastering Eindhoven during the previous night and further fighter bomber sorties conducted throughout the day. The problem for 2nd Tac Air Force is the long range back to their bases in France. To offset this Montgomery orders Horrocks to secure the airfield west of Eindhoven.
With his hands full further north, Horrocks directs MajGen Graham's 50th Inf Div ( the Tyne Tees ), with 4th Arm Bde in support, to secure the airfield. In addition your are to put together a small battle group from the Guards Division and take lead of the operation. The problem for the 50th Div is that the Germans have blown the two crossings across the canal just south east of the airfield, which means they will have to either force their way through Meerveldhoven in a power drive or try for a wide envelopment further west.
Field Marshall Model is also aware of the importance of the airfield and forbids Oberst Walther 's request to fall back to Wintelre. Model reassures him that help is on the way.
You must hold all 14 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold all 8 primary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

Screaming Eagles Over Hell's Highway

From Field Marshall Sir Bernard Montgomery.
Commander, as you know it is vital that 30th Corps gets to Nijmegen and Arnhem as quickly as possible. The fate of the 82nd and the 1st Airborne Divisions depend on it.
The Germans have managed to wrestle back the control of Eindhoven.
Therefore, you must secure the vital bridges at Eindhoven, Son, St Oedenrode and Veghel as soon as you can. Drive your men hard. Let's capitalise on the surprise while it lasts.
Once you have secured these crossings you must then secure a corridor along the highway to enable the stream of 30th Corps troops and supplies to flow.
The 15/19 Hussars, one of our crack Armoured Regiments will be attached to provide you with some heavy support. Some Corps Arty will also support you if required, however you must continue moving the Guards Armoured Groups northeast toward Nijmegen to open that road. With the scheduled arival of your Glider Regt on Day 2 you should have enough forces for the job. And in due course the 50th Infantry Division will take over responsibility for the security of the Eindhoven area.
Good luck, Commander.
You must hold all 23 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold at least 10 primary objectives and 6 secondary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

Right Hook At Mook

Commander, due to the slowness and inability of the XXX Corps to meet their objectives on time, the 82nd Airborne is on the verge of being chased out fo the vital Groesbeek heigths. While we recognize the series of defeats that your command has suffered since the para landings around Groesbeek 2 days ago, you must not loose heart in the situation. It appears that your front line has more or less stabilized and you should be aware that reinforcements from the Eindhoven sector are on the way.
Intel reports that the Germans may be gearing up for a final assault toward Mook. You cannot let them get close enough to interdict our only crossing of the Maas at Mook before XXX Corps can cross and push Jerry back into Nijmegen. The 82nd's orders are to hold at all costs until relieved by the XXX Corps.
You must hold all 11 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold 1 primary objective and 7 secondary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

Red Devils Over Arnhem

Commander, time is of the essence. Campaigning weather is running out, and supplies are short with the clearance of Antwerp botched just a short while ago. In addition General Eisenhower - under pressure to allow American troops to take the limelight - has been reluctant to back Montgomery and only a smashing success will turn the Field-Marshal's luck around. Your 1st Airborne Division and XXX Corps are to provide that success by establishing an airborne bridgehead over the Neder Rijn, and driving the heavy armour of the Guards Division through Arnhem and into Germany.
<p>Unfortunately the air transport types have rejected Major General Urquhart's request for a rapid insertion and he will have to make do with a three-day buildup. Ensure that he pays adequate attention to securing the drop and landing zones of the follow-on waves but do not lose sight of the major prize - the Arnhem Highway Bridge!
If the enemy is able to keep the airborne chaps away from the city, you may be able to pull yourself up by the bootstraps if you take the Rail Bridge. However, this is a low-capacity structure and eventually we will have to get into Arnhem itself.
During the operation don't lose sight of the ultimate goal; an attack into Germany to end the war by Christmas. If your lads get bled white, it will be winter before we can reconstitute an attacking spearhead, and the whole effort will have been in vain.
You must hold all 20 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold at least 1 primary objective and 8 secondary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

All American Over Nijmegen

Commander, the 82nd Abn Div (All Americans) must secure the vital bridges and a route for the 30 Corps to fight their way north to Arnhem. You will have to go at it alone until the Guards Arm Div starts arriving in the south early on Day 3.
You must protect your drop zones on the Groesbeek heights from enemy counterattacks, which we expect the Germans to launch from the southeast, out of the Reichs Wald. But, at the same time, you can't neglect the importance of securing the Nijmegen bridge and the city proper to allow 30 Corps to push on to Arnhem.
You must hold all 18 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold at least 2 primary objectives and all 13 secondary objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

Grabbing Bridges At Grave

by Erik2
Commander, elements of the 504th Para regiment have grabbed the bridges crossing the Maas river at Grave and the rest of the 504th are ordered to reinforce from the north and the east.
However, recent intel suggests that they will soon face a German armored counter-attack from the south-east as well as German infantry from the north and west.
Put together a small armored task force and quickly relieve the paratroopers.
You must hold all 3 objectives to gain a Decisive Victory. You must hold at least 2 objectives to gain a Minor Victory.

The airborne drop-zones and landing-zones are marked with the Allied entry 'star' marker. You should drop your units at or next to one of the markers.

Hi Erik, a little late to the party on this. Thank you so much for designing this scenario on my favourite campaign. The one provided in the Pz Corps campaign itself was very lacking in terms of historical concept. I've downloaded the 3rd version from the Slitherine forum. I'm not the brightest when it comes to computers. How do I install this to my Panzer Corps menus and allow the game load / play?

I've never figured out how to install custom scenarios.
I have PZC and Afrika Corps on Steam, Allied Corps and Soviet Corps from Slitherine. I've tried to install scenarios in all of them to no avail.

To play this Market-Garden Campaign, GME(Generic Mod Enabler) is necessary.
Do you know how to use GME ?
