Battleground Napoleonic Wars

My computer environment - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

This game allows Light Infantry to deploy completely into all skirmisher companies and Cavalry into all squadrons. However, when you try to recall the skirmishers or squadrons back into their original battalions the game tells you that "Parent unit of skirmishers/squadrons is not in hex." When the light infantry/cavalry has completely deployed into skirmishers/squadrons, there seem to be no way of forming back into their original larger unit. Is this a bug? And is there a fix for it?

Not a bug as such.

Indeed those units can break down completely. However, in order to reform you need to have the parent unit which did not fully break down, in the same hex as it's 'children'. Sometimes that can even be just 25 men remaining as a formed batallion. If the parent is destroyed then the remaining units can never recombine.

It is unfortunate that the game imposes such restriction on Light Infantry and Cavalry. Historically, such units were able to break into all skirmishers and squadrons and then reform without having to keep a small force in line/column formation as a "parent" unit.
