Multiplayer Games

I have been playing GGWITE for about 6 months now. All my games have been played via email. However I am wondering about what exactly you can do when playing on the internet via Multiplayer. Are there any instructions for using Multiplayer?
Does everyone playing have to be live on line during a turn? Or can you somehow do the following: Assume 2 players on each side: Can one German player move and fight while being the only player on line and then when finished can the other German player move and fight with the units on his part of the Front? When both are finished, can the game then be turned over the the Russians for their turn? Thanks, Rebel15NC

I haven't actually done it, but think you can do what you want; when one player finishes, they simply save the game (which automatically exits from the game). Then the next German player could log in to the same turn, and hit "End Turn" once the turn is complete to hand the game over to the Sov players.

You would just have to share the same login/password between all of the players on the same side.

Does anybody actually do that? Say, one player for each army group? [X(]

Sounds like (crazy) fun (for the I've-seen-it-all crowd). [8D]

Sure, there are some AARs for games like this, but I think they played via traditional PBEM rather than via the server, although I'm not sure.

From that thread:

If the process works, we might end up with a bunch of teams that can one day play a tournament against each other.

Is anything like that happening?

I'd be keen to give it a go if 4-5 others are willing

The way it probably works best as is through PBEM, make your moves, save it, e-mail it to the next player on the list. Everyone on your side shares the same password.

I don't think the server would allow you to do that - you can only save by ending the turn - which saves it on the server ready for your opponent to move.

I played a couple multiplayer PBEM games in the early TOAW days. It's fun but needs a group of very dedicated players. Turn arounds can be VERY slow, like 1 turn a week if you're lucky, so it basically takes forever to play out...

It is possible to save games on the server without ending your turn so it would probably be possible. The main problem with team games is that people go away on holiday or they can't access the internet for some reason or they simply lose interest. It's hard enough to find one reliable player who'll play through an entire campaign, the chances of finding five are vanishingly small. Also, inevitably it's a painfully slow business.

How do you save the games on the server without ending the turn? That would be VERY helpful to me!

Er, yes, go to the admin tab and hit save; I save 2-3 times per turn after having to replay several turns...

Thanks! Makes it easier to play in smaller chunks of time.
