Or at least lower the volume?
All my sound settings are to "0"
I normally won't mind, but I tend to play this at late night and she is very loud

Tokyo Rose's Orphan Annie voice who warns the Yanks and announces victories won near Port Moresby?
Two options: 1) ear-phone 2) delete .SFX file of the lady

What do you mean "all my sound settings are at '0'? You should have the ability to mute/lower the sound from your operating system?

If you are already intending to play without sound, what most of us do to play without sound is:
- Rename the "SOUND" folder to "noSOUND"
The game will generate no sounds at all, and as an added bonus any bugs with sound drivers will not be triggered to cause crashes.

I don't mind "Orphan Anne" so much.
Anyone have a substitute file for the "whistling bomb" sound file? It tends to grate after a busy day in the air.

I play Japan, so she is actually lauding my military prowess
I guess I will try to remember to reduce the general sound before I launch the game if it is late at night; I don't want to completely get rid of her.
cheers

On a related note who is actually doing the speaking on that sound clip? I know it's not the original (two or three) person(s) but I was just wondering. Anyone know?

If you rename the News directory that will disable the announcements.

You can also go into the sound file and find her message file and rename it. I renamed a few after those whistling bombs were driving me crazy! Just found one I liked ... copyed and pasted it one level up ... renamed it and over wrote the "whistling" file.

Yeah, I still remember years ago the first time I heard her voice - also had muted the sounds and not expecting it, I must have jumped a foot or so in the air when Tokyo Rose announced the fall of Rabaul. Landing hard on my behind, I was cursing and admiring the devs at the same time [:)].

I hope you mean get rid of Tokyo Rose and not your wife. Because my wife made it pretty clear early on that I play UV-WITP-AE with no sound or both me and my computer will be sleeping in the car.
It was pretty clear that she made me an offer I could not refuse...[8|]

bleh- I'm happily divorced for 2 years now

and if i could just make enough money fishing in the next few years to retire (not likely) i could devote 1 week at a time to WITP:AE (other week i have my daughter). Think of the possibilities?
