Attached is a hotfix file that corrects some issues that came up with the 1.06.22 Public Beta. The zip file contains a new exe and readme file which you must unzip into the directory containing your game's exe file. This file is for the English language version of the game. I'll provide a German version in another post. For those of you that have already used 1.06.22 and had your generic factories be reduced in size, you'll need to revert back to an earlier save. If you are playing on the server, we can back you up one player-turn if you email 2by3@2by3games.com and provide your game information (player login names, scenario, approximate turn number). We're sorry for any inconvenience we've caused you and appreciate those of you willing to live with the risk of using public betas. You must have 1.06.22 installed before using the 1.06.23 hotfix.

V1.06.23 – December 16, 2012

• New Features and Rule Changes

1. Rule Change - Generic factories (ARM, HI, etc) with a non zero build limit and with factory size above it were being reduced to the build limit starting with version 1.06.22. Now, these factories are not affected by the reduction rule added in 1.06.22.
2. Formula Change – Adjusted Dive bombers accuracy when bombing cities.
3. Formula Change - Adjusted night bombing accuracy.
4. Formula Change - Adjusted city bombing routine.

• Bug Fixes

1. Fixed a bug where aircraft factories above the build limit were not being reduced to the build limit as intended by the changes in 1.06.22.
2. Fixed a bug where Soviet numbered air armies could get renamed.

Here is the German version 1.06.23 hotfix.

When I tried to use this hotfix I get a fatal error code that says there is a problem with the serial number. I don't get this message with regular beta fixes, etc. I'm guessing a line of code is missing for the serial number check. If not, please tell me how to avoid this error so I can correct my game before we play the next turn (the first turn using the beta patch). Thanks, Norm

Are you getting the message for the German or English version?

Try running the exe as the administrator. That's what works for me. This is probably some kind of Windows security issue.

I right clicked on the file and ran it as the adminstrator. The difference is that the black screen now comes up and then the error message #801 about the serial number occurs. Before the error message was all that came up.

Anyway, its not a big deal if I lose some arms point production in my current game. I'll just update my version when the problem is corrected in the next beta patch that works on my system.

There is no serial number check in exe. It runs another app which makes the check. In some cases security/AV blocks this, which makes it to fail.

Try running the exe as the administrator. That's what works for me. This is probably some kind of Windows security issue.

Like Joel wrote - this is Windows Vista / Windows 7 security - just run the EXE with "As Administrator" and it should be OK!

Same error here in the English version.

Try running the ggwite.exe with admin rights once, this may fix your problem. This file is in the WitE folder (with CD symbol).

Has anyone been able to download either the German or English file and run it ok, and did you have to run it as administrator to get it to work for you? On one of my computers, which in only patched officially to 1.05.45, I get the error code 801 on the German version if I don't run it as administrator. I have no problem with the English version. I'm not sure what we can do until Matrix makes an installer for the hotfix, which may happen later this week, but may not happen until January since they are about to shut down for the holidays. For the next few weeks, we will primarily rely on hotfixes to update users of the public beta version, so if this is a problem for you, you should stick with the official version.

I have win 7 with UAC off all the time. In My English version it says 1.06.22 beta and 1.06.23 exe in game. I have no problem running the game. I don't need to run as administrator.
Just a note I didn't install any offical patch. Just straight 1.06.22 beta and hotfix.

I have win 7/64, UAC ON and the English file is working without any problems

I haven't got the game in front of me as its my opponent's turn and I read this after sending.

How do I know that the factories have been changed?

Thanks to those reporting the hotfix working. Glad it's working for some of you.

As for the question about factories, there are several fartory changes that we epect to happen, and some we didn't want to happen. You can look in the production screen and click on the items like Armaments or Vehicles in the list on the left. With the .22 version any factory set higher than the build limit would be reduced to the build limit. So in the 41 campaign, the Essen vehcile factory which is 28 would be reduced to 20. This happens during the logistics phase. My opinion is that the changes are not killer changes, but they could be annoying and they will have some small effect. There are many other things going on that may very well have a larger effect, but since factories are obvious, people were understandably interested in preventing these factories from being lost. The original change in the code goes along with some AFV (and possibly aircraft) changes that have been made (or may be made), to arrive at better production numbers. It was not intended to impact the generic factories although this wasn't clear in the original notes.

I have Win8 and have tried all of the above (run as administrator, run ggwite.exe as administrator first, etc.) and am still having problems.
