Modifying Sound

I asked around on the Slitherine forums regarding this topic, unfortunately I received a less than enthusiastic response. My question is: how do i go about unpacking and then swapping (what I assume are) .wav files from the sound.sfx file? I have some great sound mods for CC:WaR that I would like to put into CC: PitF (for my own personal use). Any clarification and help would be appreciated. It's a great game, I just feel the atmosphere vis a vis sound is lacking.

All the CC games contain their weapons sounds in a .sfx file which contains .wav files. Other than that I'm not sure which system your referring to? I'm sure someone on here knows, the CC community on here is a little more robust than over at slitherine.

Well I've compiled my own personal sound.sfx file and it's really good! It's a combination of vetbob for WaR and the War Realism Sound Mod for WaR. I will look into getting permissions so i can make it available to the CC community. Ultimately I would like to throw together my own weapons sounds though from scratch, which brings me to a couple of questions:

1) Is there a file in the game folder that lists which weapons go with which sounds in the sound.sfx file? i.e. 0002.wav=mg34.
2) Can anyone recommend recommend a site with plenty of ww2 sound clips?

Thanks,

James

Sapa what program are you using to open the weapons file? Mine is by default weapons.txt and I cannot make heads or tails of it.
