Adding OBJECTIVES TRACK's in XML

Hi all

For the last eight(8) years I have on and off messed with Erik Nygaards Weserübung scenario adding Sweden as part of the allies.

As I started with version 2.6 of the scenario (now good enough to test if anyone care)
and now ported the Units and formations to version 4.9 (courtesy of Erik)
But

the objective tracks does not update's from XML ?
Tried to edit both a .gam and a .oob file but neither change where loaded with the file.

Is this something that should not work or am I just doing something silly ?

I just copied the following chunck of XML:

<OBJECTIVES TRACK="1">
<OBJECTIVE ID="1" DESCRIPTION="186,155" X="186" Y="155"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="2" DESCRIPTION="164,161" X="164" Y="161"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="3" DESCRIPTION="159,195 (Karlstad)" X="159" Y="195"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="4" DESCRIPTION="168,203" X="168" Y="203"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="5" DESCRIPTION="166,219 (Jönköping)" X="166" Y="219"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="6" DESCRIPTION="165,232 ( )" X="165" Y="232"/>
<OBJECTIVE ID="7" DESCRIPTION="161,241" X="161" Y="241"/>
</OBJECTIVES>

Something more needed ?
Cheers

Hi, John.

I've edited scenarios in XML adding or removing equipment from units and then importing back, without problems. But I couldn't do the same with objectives.

Until someone appears with better info, I can confirm it doesn't work for me either.

Are you using an XML editor?

Are you using an XML editor?

Yes, Notepad++

And at times I load whole files with SSIS into Sql Server for database manipulations.

But in this case it is just Notepad++ and it works fine with adding units and changing names and so on
but not objective tracks for some reason.

Alright, it looks like it doesn't even work for F4, F5. I had heard about the bug with Save Game, Open Game, but I thought the other way was working.

Edit: Ok, it seems like F5 doesn't overwrite any existing objectives. That's how I got confused. I knew I had used it on some of my scenarios, and they still had objectives.

Thanks
then I redo it manually, to remove the error message incomplete scenario.

Why can't you use the binary scenario file?

Why can't you use the binary scenario file?

The sce-file with objective tracks are based on version 2.6 of the Weserübung scenario
while I tries to upgrade Erik's version 4.9 with my swedish army.

If it's just an oob upgrade, then start with the 2.6 binary loaded, then upload your xml oob file - the oob will update while the old tracks will remain. As I said, the F5 thing doesn't overwrite the tracks.

Now, if there's more to it than just the oob, that may not work too well - but it would be worth a try. You can also upload any event changes separately, too.

This is a known editor bug, see http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3110689
