Vichy event and French gains

In my game Italy lost some terrain to France in Africa before the Vichy event fired. They did not regain it, surely Vichy France should give it back?

Yes, they are. But truth be told the French put a tank army in there. Which was not a good decision considering the Germans at the gates of Paris, but it gave them victory over Italians...ORIGINAL: doomtrader

It is always better to lose and win rather than lost twice

I've also seen where the Italians can gain some hexes in Vichy France if they control them when the Vichy event fires.
