				 Case Brown: The tannenbaum Blitz

				 Hello Everyone.

I´ve been secretly working on a project that I am now unveiling. It is a stand-alone scenario for DC:WTP, called Case Brown, or as some people who have played other games might know it: The Tannenbaum Blitz. That is the invasion of Switzerland, to circumvent the maginot line to the south.

The Scenario is ready to be playtested, but no AI has been programmed yet. I have reached out to someone I already know as a player of ATG (which i have done a few scenarios for) and asked him to playtest it with me. Of course he still might say no, so in that case, I am also willing to hear if any of you are willing to try and playtest it...

The scale is 5km pr. hex, and the timeframe is 1 day a turn. There are 3 regimes. The Germans, The Swiss, and the French.

The object of the scenario is for the Germans to capture: Bern and Zürich, as well as capturing the French city of Bescanson. (Where they presumably will head for Paris from.)

Here is a screenshot of part of the map, as the germans see it on turn 1 (may 10th 1940):

Very interesting...look forward to the development of this one. I assume you will be working on an AI...or will this be a PBEM only scenario?

I have never done an AI for a scenario for DC:WTP, but i will try. I hope someone like Vic might help me along some...

				 Hi guys,

I have very little time available alas, but I did find this old rough guide to the DC1 ai.

http://www.vrdesigns.nl/NewAIScripting.pdf

Maybe it will help a little?

In general I think you should not make things to difficult. Setting the rulevars for the victory conditions and the supply hexes correctly and setting some extra AIVP on core locations should do the trick.

 Best,
 Vic

I now have an advanced Beta ready for playtesting. It still does not have an AI programmed, but I am looking into it. If anyone wants to test it against me, by playing either the Swiss/French or Germans, they are welcome to send me an email, and i will send them the files needed to play.

So Far I have the following options available for players to choose from when they start up.

 I: NO PLAN H:
Plan H was a french plan for sending forces into Switzerland, in case the Germans do attack the country. The French and the Swiss were very much aware that this option existed, and according to at least one source I have read, if the thurst through the ardennes had failed, Hitler had planned attacking Switzerland instead. This option removes the units that had been planned to do this, and the French will simply have to do without them.

 II: EXTRA FRENCH ARMOR:
If PLAN H is chosen, the French have the option of removing all of the R-35s that the GBC 506 had in the maginors southern sector and using them for Plan H. Simply put the French player gets 90 R-35s, he can do with as he sees fit.

 III: +5 DAYS:
The Germans have 21 days (which is what i think that playtesting so far has revealed is exactly enough to win, if playing with Plan H) to get all the VPs they need (37). With this option, they get 5 more days. This might be a good option to choose if you also chose EXTRA FRENCH ARMOR, or the German player is inexperienced.

 IV: BAD WEATHER:
When playing without this variant the chance of rain is only 25%. When playing with it, the chance of bad weather is 50%. This effects the German player the most, as the Swiss have NO bombers (those they had were biplanes actually), and the French have a very limited amount available.

 SO there it is...
 Any takers?

For those interested, we are in the final testgames of the Scenario. I expect it could be published within a week or two.

Working very hard to meet the deadline. So far testgames have found quite a few bugs, and they have been fixed, which is pretty good i guess

Some playtest balance has also been made. I really must say that the help of playtesters: lion_of_judah and map66, has been invaluable

A screenshot from my ongoing testgame against Map66, who is a great offensive player, in my book anyway.

				 Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that Case Brown (Tannenbaum Blitz) is now available for everyone to download in the Scenario bank. I want to personally thank Map66 and lion_of_judah for all their hard work in playtesting the game, and I hope that it is now bug free...

If anyone has ideas for improving AI play please feel free to comment. I did spend some time making it playable by the AI, but I will have to admit I did not spend alot of time optimizing it.
