Just throwing out an idea and wondering if anyone is interested.

A starting game has been created with Distant Worlds - Legends (Original theme).

Race specific victory conditions are in effect as well as general victory conditions. Everything else is a mystery.

Important : Turn on auto save.

Play the game and when you reach victory please reload the game again at the last saved point.
Now play out the last minutes again with auto-save reduced down to 10 minutes.

Upload the last auto save before victory to a file sharing site and PM me the link so that I can load the saved game. I will play out the last minutes to verify the victory and record the game date. If you want to leave any final instructions to finish the game send me a private mail. Please understand that once I have your winning game file recorded you cannot submit another entry for this challenge. It's only a trial so no worries.

The result will be compared to others that have finished and you will be told your current ranking...privately. No other information will be given.

You will be asked if I can post a screenshot of your empire map and top colonies so others can compare results but again your name will not be released or your ranking.

If your ranking changes I will pm you.

There is no time limit for the first beta contest but if there is enough interest a monthly or weekly contest could be set up with only the winner announced.

How big is the galaxy? My computer is not happy when I am running big games....

Great idea, would love to do something like this once Shadows is released and I have some spare time. [8D]

This is a pretty cool idea. Is it Shadows compatible?

Right now its only for Legends but the next one will be for Shadows.

btw 2 people have finished.....it's a interesting starting position.

This sounds like a fun idea. If you post one for Shadows I'd enjoy giving it a go. =D

Er... I think there's too much room for cheating in a competition organized like this.

IIRC using the game editor can be disabled with a password, though save spam/reloading could make itself a problem. Still, with no prizes on the line in a close-knit community, I think an honor system is fine.

That said, although pipewrench has been on as recently as today, creating this thread was literally his last post on the forum, and it was made almost 3 months ago. Pipewrench, you still around? I'd really enjoy doing a friendly competition like this.

Also happy with an honour system and more interested in the strategic discussion than the competition.
