I never saw this question answered. Can fighters and bombers operate from the same base without penalty?

Yes. The air thing is basically abstracted so don't worry [:)]

Try to keep below the support level per airbase though (Support/need). Any stacking above it will fairly quickly collect operational damage. Different aircraft have different stacking limits so whereas you might fit 9 fighter regiments per airbase and still be below the support max, then 4 heavy bomber regiments might exceed it. A mix of fighters and bombers will take some trial and error to optimize. Keep an eye on the AV number to the right of the support/need numbers as you add aircraft.
