That destroyer is Ikazuchi of the Akatsuki class. The picture shows her in Chinese waters ca '38.

Her TROM is here: http://www.combinedfleet.com/ikazuc_t.htm

and a summary of her story here: http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=119

The Hull markings identify her as Ikazuchi, I think I read somewhere that she was very active in the Guadalcanal campaign.

Good show - right again!

I don't think I'll stump anyone with the warship pictures but they are sure fun to look at. Some are pretty much eye-candy for me. There's a better chance to stump the formites (for short periods of time) with support ships and conscripted merchant shipping. Still it's kind fun to do this and I'm learning bits and pieces of history I was unfamiliar with.

I found it interesting that Ikazuchi traded Commanding Officers with Hibiki, specifically Lieutenant Commander Ishii Hagemi in August of '42. Granted, Ishii didn't stay in command long, but it's still interesting to see those names.
