How important it is to take it in the summer '41. Could it be a danger come blizzard, the Ruskies breaking out and crossing into Romania and... let's not go any further. If it is a big danger, does a ring of forts help. I guess I'm answering my own question..... Take it stupid ..... [&:][&:][&:]

None look where the blizzard effect lines are.
You know better homie.
Pull back air fleet during snow, bomb port and the wipe ( poineers) out.

I did not take odessa until snow in my current game. I ended up diverting 1 corp hq and 4 good inf divisions to clear out the cancer in the snows of november. These units would have been much better deployed elsewhere. Get rid of the cancer in the summer if you can.

If I understand Pelton (he did speak in WITE jargon... but homie ??? looked it up.. it means friend !!! I'll take that) you bomb the port closed and with the garrison out of supply (supply is lost when the port is 50 % damaged) you can take your merry time to atttack the starved Ruskies (who by then aren't happy that they are vacationing in Odessa.)
I did forget about the blizzard line. [8|][8|][8|] I've only had one blizzard experience only. Poor excuse . I can read your mind Pelton.
It takes 97 % damage or more to close a port. ... I closed Ostivenets (Leningrad) that way in a server game with Goodgrief and isolated a whole slew of Ruskies... and it is a big effort. MT and I talked about it.
In that game I attacked the port with 140-180 bombers from a distance of 10 or so hexes during turns 8-13 The airforce was tired by then, but in that situation it took 6 turns to close it (96-100% damaged.) Ports self repair 2-4% a turn, so I put 125 % damage on it in 6 turns ..averaged out to be 20 % damage points a turn.
But remember that was from a distance of 10 hexes using 160 or so tired bombers. With the bombers evacuated during blizzard, the Axis would have more bombers attacking from a shorter range at Odessa. Port closer would be a quicker.
But how about the Ruskies flying in supplies Pelton ??? Things do get messy in this game ???

Don't listen to them Hitman. They are not your friends. You know you can trust me because I'm a lawyer, and one who holds your profession in great regard.
You should pull back AGS until Odessa is taken.

Just pile in a corp level attack with heavy artillery and 8 to 12 pioneers. If you have a mp of 12 or greater will take you one turn.

You have some 110's to fly fighter int at night or day time.
The LW is basicly fuel mules these days. LW bombers are completely usless come late 42 so put them to hard labor in 41 and 42.
I am sure MT has some good ideas also. I have had a few guys try that sillyness in my games and I simply leave them behind and start bombing port with Rums and Huns early. All 3 games SHC chickened out once they saw port damage climbing and left before September.
