Multi-Monitor Out of Memory Error

I got a new secondary monitor for my main work-rig last week with a larger screen resolution than my old monitor and I noticed that I started getting some of the sorts of out-of-memory errors that some people had been reporting in these forums. Temporarily disabling the other monitor (Windows+P in Win7) seemed to solve the issue.
