Guadalcanal

TOAW has a lot of not-so-well-known scenarios buried inside. After recently watching the film Thin Red Line, I found Guadalcanal . Although designed as a PBEM, it played as US Player vs Elmer to give a good overview of the campaign, and a feel for the battle. It also shows that naval warfare, as it impacts the ground war, can be modeled in TOAW.

I think these vignettes of history is one of the reasons TOAW continues to be a timeless tool for modeling military history...Keep up the good work.
Cheers

Wasn't the vast majority of the fighting in an area only a few miles across? A historical scenario would just have a series of unsupplied Japanese units on ignore losses attacking entrenched marine units in about three hexes until they evaporate. The rest of the island is worthless.
