I want to know what skill is used by kamikaze.
I try to find answer on forum, and find few totally different. Some telling about NavBomb some about LNav, some telling that it depend of altitude. So i am little confused.

Correct me if i am wrong. For kamikaze missions Low Naval skill is used. And it not depend of mission attitude. Setting Kamikaze on 100 or 10000tf will be using that only skill. Right?

Is there an advantage to converting air groups to kamikazes early in the Downfall scenario or should I wait until, say, a week before the expected invasion?

Don't worry about the Kami's. On the other hand I read it was low Nav.

One question about reality and kamikazes, which I guess could apply to modding them;

Did they attempt to release the bomb as they were about to hit the target? If so it could continue on and pierce the armor. If not it would surely get held up by the plane wreckage itself and not pierce through the decks to explode underneath, which would make AP bombs less desirable for this role.

Any knowledge on this?

In game I've also heard low naval. I wonder if air skill helps them get there more effectively?

I don't air skill helps but probably def if they encounter CAP.
I don't think they try to release the bomb, the kamikaze were use because japan never deployed smart bomb, they are no point to release because the bomb still penetrate.
USS st lo was hit by kamikaze and the bomb penetrate the flight deck.

St Lo was a CVE, and my foot could probably have penetrated her deck. Maybe it's enough force though that the bomb just keeps right on going out of it's bracket and runs through even an armored deck. It was just a thought i'd not had before so thought I'd post as usually someone here knows the answer to most everything to do with the war.

One of my HS NJROTC instructors was a young sailor on a DD at Okinawa that was hit. He said the plane--I think single-engine--hit broadside with little warning at lunchtime. It went through the ship, taking out the wardroom and all but a couple of officers currently on watch. Left a through and through hole. Any ordnance it was carrying did not explode inside since the ship survived. He said he was on the bridge wing with the CO at the time. The CO shoved him down behind the shield just before impact; he survived but the CO was decapitated. I think he said they had about 80 KIA and WIA from it. There's a lot of force in speed and mass alone. Not to mention burning fuel left in the wake.

I agree, and I hope that those are accounted for in the kami hit routine in game. I just wonder because all I hear about is the size of bomb the plane carries and how that is the biggest factor in kami damage after the hit is made.

That is quite a story. So many amazing and terrifying moments like that in that war.

Interestingly enough, the wardroom scenario is exactly how Mr. Roberts was killed in the movie of the same name (even the same location and ship type). Wonder if it's just coincidence, or whether the actual scenario was the source of the writer's idea.

Kamikaze was trying drop a bomb just before impact (when it was detachable bomb).
