In the earlier version i seem to recall that the C-47 could airlift supplies.Has this changed? I havent seen any C-47s at all.
Otherwise thanks for a great improvment!

Nobody used them. If I'm not mistaken, the best use you could have made of them was disbanding the airgroup.

They where most helpfull at keeping the supply level up in India and the smaller Island in the South Pacific. One way of supplying troops when you could not afford a TF.

The problem with airlifting supplies in Pacific War was that it was very irratic. It didn't always sent supplies to low supply bases, and typically sent supplies to unoccupied Islands, or bases that you didn't want supply to go to. Since you did not get the same control over them as WIR, I edited them out, as they only worked in a few limited situations. Editing out the transport aircraft gave the IJAAF and IJNAF 2 extra fighting aircraft types, and the USAAC one extra fighting aircraft type. Also, the elimination of transport aircraft groups enabled a realistic and larger USN Carrier selection (because there were more air groups free to put on carriers).

I weighed the plus' and minus' of transport groups, and felt that their elimination would add to the game more then their loss would take away from it.

Well decided, Jeremy

I concur completely. I always felt like the bleedin' things were a nuisance to cart around all over the place.

About C-47. Makes me think one of the great missing thing is PACWAR is the ability to airdrop a unit.
I used to do it with victory i the pacific (o the board) with a 2 step jap regiment (which exists in PAC).
Why has this never been allowed on PACWAR ? it was so much fun and obliged you of keeping trrops everywhere just in cas some crazy opponent would airdrop ...
there were SBS troops too (or Rangers, i guess) who could raid an island, blow eveything and disappear on the same turn.

Exactly when and where did the Japanese mount a regimental or division sized parachute assault? I don't recall ever reading about any.

The US dropped the 13th Airborne Division on Corregidor but that was the only division size drop that I recall from the US side.

The Allied raiders were US Marine Raid Bns - they are in the game and they were brought in by ship - or submarine - and left the same way.

The biggest pain with the transport planes was that they would drop supplies willy nilly to anywhere and everywhere, EXCEPT where I wanted them (Chinese air fields), so with the removal of China as a ground / air operations area, I'm quite ok with the removal of the transport groups.

The IJA Parachute regiments were really just reinforced battalions. I believe that they were the ones who were dropped on Palembang, with the IJN Yokosuka Units being dropped on Celebes.

I confirm Palembang. They seized the installations there from the Dutchs.
