4.4.260 Arty default bombard order problem

Hi Im new so excuse my ignorance on anything I might be missing. Before the patch I swear when I would make a bombard order the default time would be 20 minutes and I could easily increase it with a few clicks. Now the default is from start to end of scenario and resets to that with each new bombard order which is a pain when having to set it back to 20 minutes for every arty unit. I tried on a few levels and same result. Any help please, very frustrating having to set arty up all the time like that. If I change duration it flips back to whatever the start and end time is. Here is save file. Thnx in advance. Running win 8 btw.
Extra info in case your wondering, after updating game with new patch I always start new games to avoid any problems.

I can verify this to be the case.

Obviously, the bombard task timings got borked when we revised the task timings estimation code. Will be fixing this ASAP.

Good to see you're onto it Miquel. Can you also check the Fire task duration while you are at it.

Fixed for both fire & bombard. Fortunately, it was a quite trivial thing.
Sorry for the inconvenience guys. While the final patch isn't being released, just make sure the Avoid friendlies checkbox is set, so the Bombard task aborts as soon as friendlies get in the way (if the bombard task is meant to be a preparatory barrage.

I've posted about this too, BG, so has Daz, in other threads. Great quick spot, Pokerwolf. I have noted, BG - and am wondering if the fix encompasses all this - 1. The 'borked' default times as mentioned above. 2. That you can change the default times by bringing down the end time and then fixing the bombard duration, BUT, if you do this the bombard either does not go in at all, or the order only gets through after about 20 mins or so (as if orders delay applied), 3. If - to correct the fact that time will run out if it takes 20 mins to get the order to do a bombard that you wanted to last only 20 mins, say - if you then click on duration to increase it, the time just clicks back to the original after a few seconds (Daz has noted a similar, or identical, issue with changing assault at times once fixed) - ie; once you set a bombard you cannot change it (though it may not work anyway!) 4. bombard will only work if you leave the default settings (then cancel the order when you've had enough shells lobbed), but even then, sometimes (seems inconsistent) there seems to be an orders delay type delay (20 mins plus) before the bombard order gets through.
I mention all these just in case there is an issue in there which wasn't part of the fix you've already affected.
Edit: These issues appeared in a multiplayer game. I've just tested single player and couldn't get points 2 or 4 to reproduce - ie the bombard went in ok and you could scale back the timings from scenario end ok, but you couldn't change duration once set (once the order was 'received' or the bombard began, I guess).

Peter,
Perhaps the issues 2 to 4 you mentioned that occur in multiplayer are due to the fact that order swaps can be delayed because of the time lag between machines. This can be up to three minutes of game time. This is due to network lag. IIRC the only way to prevent this slows down the game a lot. I am not the network expert here. So I will have to refer this to Paul.

No, you can't change the duration of the bombardment once it goes underway, you need to scrub the mission (or issue a new bombardment task as soon as it finishes). I'll take a look on 3)

This is what I do for a temporary fix till it gets patched.
I pause game before giving order. I assign a bombard order as usual. Then I right click on where it sets the day of the end time for the order till it goes to earliest time possible (Few minutes after start). Then I set duration of bombardant as usual. Then unpause and let the hell storm fly. After bombard order is complete team goes back to rest after allotted time has passed.
To set a specific start time I pause game before giving order. I assign a bombard order as usual. Then I right click on where it sets the day of the end time for the order till it goes to earliest time possible (Few minutes after start). I then set start time. Then I set duration and unpause when ready.Once again they go back to rest after completion of orders. Hope this helps.

Regarding the Bombard task timings UI controls. They work (and have been working like this for a long time) in the following way:
1) If you change the Start Time set, the duration remains constant, and the End Time is moved forward
2) If you change the End Time set, duration remains constant, and Start time is brought forward to End Time minus Duration
3) If you change the Duration set, start time remains the same and the end time is brought forward to Start plus Duration
4) Once the bombard task starts executing, timings cannot be changed.

Thanks BG. But number 4 there is brand new. It was always possible right up to before this build to simply click on the duration to extend (or decrease) the time of a bombardment whilst it was in progress. Unless I've been drinking way too much....Anyone confirm you could do this? It was very useful.

That could be it. Thanks, Dave. The lag - somehow - I assume also accounts for why the LOS tools etc aren't available quite often in MP. Sometimes it works when you try, sometimes nothing happens, for pathing tools too.

Yes indeed that is the way it has worked before, and is the usual method I use to extend a bombard by clicking on the bombard order and increasing the duration.
If we can't do this now it will mean we have to locate the artillery piece, and issue a new bombard order, which is very inconvenient but not a game breaker.
