me and my opponent tried several times tonite to connect in multiplayer. we could not connect. the game just sat with the message on the screen "connecting to opponent"
when we hit CTRL ALT DELETE to get out.. the game was not responding
we tried rebooting our PC 's 3 or 4 times etc. no go.
were both on the west coast of canada.

later [ 2 hrs ] i went back onto the game and multiplayer screen to see if anyone else was there playing and ran into two other players from australia. they also were having connection issues.

can you help us out here?

My friend and I had the exact same problem last night. We spent about 45 minutes trying to get to play (we tried through the lobby and direct - but of course direct really makes you go through the lobby first so there isn't much of a difference). We were able to connect several times, but then it locked up and after 1 hr 15 minutes we completely gave up.

I did a test and I see the same thing. I will look into it and see if there is a problem on the server side. I'll update here as soon as possible.

FYI - I am able to make a direct connection if I open port 1944 in my router and redirect it to my host machine, and this works fine.

interesting.....im guessing, we shouldnt have to do that though to connect under normal circumstances. i didnt have to do that before, so thes still an issue...right?

Yes, that's correct. There is a problem on our end.

I was only pointing out that the direct connection was working as a way you could connect and play right now. To use it the host has to be able to open port 1944 in their router and/or firewall, which is not something everyone is familiar with doing.

If the game cannot make a direct connection it goes through a routing server, which means you never have to worry about finding your external IP and dealing with a router and/or firewall. But I believe the problem we're seeing is with the routing server itself.

I suspect it will be at least 9 hours before this can be resolved, due to time zones and where people are located. I will post new information as soon as I have any.

They are working on the issue but as I understand it there is a problem the developer needs to look into. I expect it will be Monday before it's resolved, but I will post as soon as it is.

Really not working..I'm astounded.. How's that Cross of iron Server going.

Bleeding greata record indeed.

The routing servers are back on line and I have verified that I can make a connection through it for Panthers in the Fog.

seems to connect now but the game freezes more than it used to. im going to start another thread about the game freezes. [:(]
