Question about supply interdiction

Hello everybody,
I'm not sure I understand how supply interdiction works. I'm assuming that, if I don't use my air units during my turn, those air units that have enough action points during the enemy's turn will automatically fly interdiction missions to harass the enemy's supply lines. Is this correct? Is there a way to see if my air units have flown any supply interdiction missions?
...Or am I doing it all wrong? Can you please shed some light on how supply interdiction works?
Thanks!

No one answered yet, so I'll try this: it seems to be something automatic, you have planes (bombers) in the neighbourhood, you can do damage, even if their AP are spent. I have seen it in action in the Black Sea, where you can actually see the % lost from sea hex to sea hex while Russia sends supplies to Sevastopol. However I have not yet seen it on land however, under the famous 'supply lost' line.

Mmmm, so, as long as my bombers are within range, they will interdict the enemy's supply lanes automatically EVEN IF I spent all their APs during my turn? What about my fighters then? They don't attack supply convoys at all? Will they at least run escort missions for my bombers automatically?
The way I've been playing so far, I try not to use my air assets during my turn, so that they can automatically attack supply convoys during the enemy's turn. Have I been doing it wrong all along?
And also, is there a way to check how many convoys my bombers (or fighters?) have distroyed (both on land and sea)?
Thank you for your reply, by the way!

Hi all,
Anti supply points are given on all sea hexes in intercept range of your air units. The AP or RDN of your air unit does not matter, but less RDN does less dammage.
However hexes that the enemy is able to do an air intercept on with his fighters do not count.
The trick to protect yourself in a specific area is to have at least 1 fighter unit left that has enough RDN to meet its RDN INTERCEPT SETTING.
It is thus possible to defend against anti supply points. Also its possible to breach this defense by using all your airforce to destroy or severly drop the RDN of any enemy fighter units.
Against a good opponent it is a clever strategy to use the treat of anti-supply points to force him to keep fighting for air dominance.
Little extra bit for modders: There is a rulevar in which you can also make air anti-supply work on land hexes, though you might need to upgrade the ASonLAnd property of the aircraft as well (not 100% sure on the last bit).
Best,
Vic

Hi Vic,
Thanks for taking the time to answer this and congratulations on your amazing game. There is still something I'm not sure I understand:

Does this mean that normally there is no anti-supply on land at all, unless we mod it in?

Yes thanks a bunch Vic. This is a great game and I don't mind that everything isn't explained and detailed, but your explications are always welcomed!

Yes it is. In game testing i found the effect of this a bit disturbing for non-hardcore players. Although it is a realistic rule i didnt include it, just like hardcore supply and replacement rules were left out for the same reason.
Feel free to experiment. In the editor go to SFTypes -> Statistics1 -> and set AntiSupply points higher than 0 or equal to AntiSupplySea.
Best,
Vic

Thanks for clearing this up, Vic!
So, if I set AntiSupply equal to AntiSupplySea, then the anti-supply on land will behave exactly the same way as the anti-supply at sea (with all the rules you explained above), right?
Another thing, you said that "hardcore supply and replacement rules were left out for the same reason". In the game, right now, supply and replacements go directly from OKH/Stavka to regimental units. Is there a way to edit in the "hardcore" rules, so that supply and replacements have to go from OKH/Stavka, first through subordinate HQs and finally to each individual unit?
I understand the rationale behind leaving this extra level of complexity out of the game, but if there's a way to "switch it on" via the editor, I'd like to try it out!
Thanks again,
R.

hi there,
It should yes.
As for the hardcore supply rules. Check this thread:

Feel free to give feedback on using these different rules.
Best,
Vic

One thing I found usefull is an overlay with the actual supply numbers getting through .. this was in TOAW
an older game actually sold by the former Matrix, as opposed to the new Matrix...
Glad we are seeing some added depth..
any idea on timing of this???
GREAT game
