Does Arty cause more damage if you fire at a target that has several of your units adjacent to it (Mass Attack modifier)?

I did many tests and I have found that while the Mass Attack modifier does show up in the COMBAT DETAILS when firing Arty, the remainder of the math (w/in the Combat Details screed) stays the same whether the target is alone, or has several of your units next to it.

It has no meaning. The mass attack penalty only applies to initiative. Since artillery attack can't be retaliated it has no effect.
