State of play with CTGW?

Just a question for Lord Zimoa and co.
What is the latest on the game please? It all seems to have gone a bit quiet recently. There were numerous bugs that have been picked up since the latest patch so would be grateful to know when the next patch is due to iron these out, together with any news on other games changes (if any).
Thank you.

I second that, what is in the pipeline regarding game improvements ? Is the diplomacy aspect being overhauled in anyway ? I have been away from the game for a few months and nothing seems to be happening![:)]

I'm interested too. Any changes to or added commanders?

Hi guys,
We are working very hard on the Mac and iOS porting, fixing reported bugs etc... for the porting we also need some new features and adding this back into the PC version will consumes time.
So it will be a while until the next patch comes out as we rather combine the patch with also some engine upgrades, also there are improvements foreseen on the PBEM server.
It is a complex business and all have to work and tested on all the platforms. So don`t worry this game and especially this engine we plan to support and improve for many years to come and CTGW was just the first game build on it... we have planned to make many more games on it for the next few years.

Rather fond of it's simplicity and richness... previously Guns of August was a worthy WW1 game to me, practically the only one I bothered playing on this scale.
Keep the refinements up!

Have not played 1.30 yet, was hoping another patch was coming along shortly and then adjust to the game play changes. I realize I'm just another peg on the board here, however, still very interested in the development and quality of the game, I might add; keep up the good work!

I'm watching the games development closely, this is a very good game and I'm sure it will only get better.

Well that's encouraging to hear. I think this game needs a lot more work, but I've got some (not full but some haha) faith that it'll get there and I hope the same can be said for other releases using this engine. I'm interested to see what you have planned. CEAW GS 2.1 is one of the best PBEM games - maybe the best - ever created so hopefully you can improve this one to that level and then pull off some future games that approach that level. I'm hopeful.

Playing the Allies and my Romanians were attacked by Bulgaria. I did not get the "free" go I thought was added in the latest patch [&:]

You are supposed to get the free go when you enter the war to attack someone else, not vice versa. In previous versions Russia, Italy, and Romania did not get their free go when they entered the war. But the wise thing for the CP to do now is to not wait for them to enter the war but to attack them preemptively right before they're supposed to enter.

I hope you take your business and your words serious.
Commander: The Great War has many good and some outstanding feature.
Unfortunately, it looks like, or it feels like a beautiful woman without a brain.
If one asks me about the game: it's unfinished business.

I've never gotten to the point of Romanian entry, so it's possible that what the patch promised does not work for Romania. If you're playing against the AI I think you should get the first go because AFAIK the AI will never attack a country in advance of its scheduled entry date. If you're playing against a human, the human can issue a declaration of war prior to the country's scheduled entry and immediately attack.

I guess two things:
a) that assumes my opponent knows the exact date of entry - but he can't, because its not set in stone, unless he takes a lucky guess.
b) But I thought that the patch was designed to give the attacked country the first go - regardless of when that is. That's what need to be the case.

The US Navy at Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the Russians at Port Arthur in 1904 also thought they should have had the first go...[:'(]

But this is a strategic level game and this has already been discussed, and I thought, agreed. You CANNOT have - in this example - Romanian units set up in exactly the same place regardless of what has happened during the game - that is total nonsense and is subject to exploitation.
World In Flames is so successful because there are no 100% guaranteed strategies. That feature makes the game interesting and prolongs its playable life - something this potentially great game should take a lesson from.
Just to be clear - The game needs free set up of minor countries - Belgium excepted.
