Destroyed units bought back assigned to restricted HQ's?

I just bought back two unrestricted artillery units and I see they are now assigned to a restricted HQ upon reforming. I will have to spend PP's to reassign them to an unrestricted HQ. Is this working as intended and if so will this happen to every previously unrestricted unit?

That's how it's always worked with mine. If you check right away it only costs 1-5 PPs to change HQ as the units are shells of their usual TOE.

It does seem too bad we have to pay more to change these back, but I guess it's much better than not getting them at all as was the case in previous versions.

don't know if it is working as designed but it costs only a couple of pts, usually less than assigning a halve decent TF commander

I found out the hard way that a completely destroyed division can cost over 300 PP to change commands. So there is a good reason to try to lift out a fragment.

I just view it as an extra PP tax on buying the unit back. The first alerts I look for in Tracker are "LCU Arrived", "Ship arrived in port", and "Air group arrived". It's usually only 1-5 PPs to change the command if you do it right away since the unit is so darn small. Once I had it cost 15 because the unit respawned with a handful of disabled guns (or else I missed it and changed the command on the second day).

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I didn't think this would be an issue, so I didn't even look at the units again until both were fully rebuilt and ready to be redeployed. It will cost me about 200 PP's to reassign both units (cheaper heavy artillery) so it's not the end of the world, but I'll definitely remember to do it right away next time. Thanks again.

really? [X(] I have reactivated two Indian Divisions in my ongoing game and both together have cost less than a day's pp, otherwise I would not have spent anything on them as they will probably never see combat again anyway as I have more ground units than needed at this stage of the war.

I should clarify and it was in reference to Japanese divisions.

I don't think it unresonable that any reformed unit should be assigned to the highest command based in their native land. It is more than likely that this High HQ would be the one ordering it to reform.

It happened to me also
I purchased back Guam BF and it arrived in S. Francisco as West Coast (R) and with around 25 soldiers. do you know if it is possible to extimate how much time will be needed to have it at full strenght, it or any other unit? I have also some units from DEI arrived in Sidney really understrenght and I do not know how long I'll have to wait to have them usable
Many thanks
Paolo

I buy back units as well. I haven't really paid any attention to how long it takes to go to full strength, but switch the HQ early as mentioned above, move them to someplace safe and wait. couple months I think.

costs of buying units back varies a bit. but the real kicker is will you have enough in the pools to rebuild a unit.

brit units just don't get enough replacements to be worth it.

the brits and CW units are cheap and take over a year to rebuild. the BF units though dont take as long and do come in handy.

Best reason to play as Japan, IMO. [;)] No silly device pools to worry about - if you need more, just make more!

it is to laugh, i barely have enough attention to detail to play as Allies. i would have to go quite mad to play the IJ.
