sub doctrine

it seems to me the computer has switched sub doctrines. When I play as the Americans my subs, if set to computer control, simply patrol around what ever base and do nothing, once I had subs patrolling the area around Nome. Meanwhile the Japanese subs are out aggressively hunting allied transports which is not what they did. Last time I played the Americans, the Japanese had a greater tally of transports then the Americans did in 1943.

Steve,

Why would you want to use "computer control"? These are far too valuable to allow them to get out of your control. Even the US subs have their place during the "troubled torpedo times (t3)" as they have other uses that you need to control. I never put them in the hands of the AI.

Trusting the AI to run your subs is to waste them.

Turn on Japanese sub doctrine and they won't be hunting your convoys, but will focus on warships as in real life. Turn it off and they hunt for your ships, period.

If the game only allowed for reality you would be complaining about the restraints because this could've done this or that and just because they didn't you shouldn't be limited. Besides the Japanese are destined to become punching bags and it's hard enough to find somebody to play as them.
