If as a pirate you accept a mission to defend a independent colony and raid another colony or capture a ship produced at another colony you automatically fail your defend mission, even though they have nothing to do with the colony your defending currently.

I uploaded the file as Goldor Defend mission failing.rar.

To recreate it simply attack any of the independent ships at any of the other colonies, or raid one of the other colonies that you are not currently tasked with defending.
